Abstract

Transdermal drug delivery systems, sometimes referred to as "patches," have significantly improved patient outcomes by offering the benefit of a relatively painless method of administering medication through the skin to provide a systemic effect. Benefits of these patches include regulated medication release, convenience of usage, and avoiding first-pass metabolism. Transdermal drug delivery system was presented to overcome the difficulties of drug delivery especially oral route. A transdermal patch is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream.
